Crew in Build and Defend Your Raft

Purple Crew button, 18-player servers, and jobs you say out loud.

Last updated:

Crew Button

The purple Crew button sits near the top of the Build and Defend Your Raft HUD, beside the timer. It is a real control, not slang and not a class menu. Raft Pirates shipped live online PvP on 28 July 2026 with a max of 18 players on a shared server. Crew is how you stop treating that server as a single-player sandbox. This page is the button, the jobs, and the failure mode where everyone clicks raid and nobody sits the chest. Pair it with raid roles and the raid checklist. How to actually steal is how to raid. How to hold is how to defend.

What the button is for

Open Crew to see who is actually with you. A compact fortress with three named people beats a mansion with a ghost list. Random people on the 18-player map are not crew. Some of them want your loot. Wave, then wall.

We will not invent a friends-list overlay, a private server toggle, or a hidden co-op matchmaker. If the live UI only shows Crew, that is the roster tool. Mobile, console, and PC share the same session; keep the button visible on every device.

Name three jobs before anyone leaves

  1. Harpoon — someone has to shoot junk and feed the Crafting Table. If that person also boards every raft, the table starves.
  2. Sitter — someone stays on the core: chest, spikes, cannons, timer. A raid that leaves the home deck empty is a donation with extra steps.
  3. Raider — optional, and only if jobs 1 and 2 are filled. Steal when you can afford to lose a fight at home.

Say the names out loud. “I harpoon, you sit, they raid” is a Crew. “We all go” is a mob. The raid roles page expands each job. This page is the rule that the button exists so you can check the list before the timer is thin.

Solo is allowed

You can play without filling Crew. Solo means you raid less and wall more. Harpoon in short loops. Dump Scrap. Close the core. Peek at other rafts only when the chest is covered. There is no shame in skipping a steal. There is shame in swimming off with the Free Reward unclaimed and the Shop unopened while a stranger walks onto the table.

Timer plus Crew

The top timer (captures show values such as 01:58) is not decoration. When it is fat, gather and upgrade. When it is thin, the sitter stands on the core even if the harpoon still has junk in range. Crew is how you know the sitter exists. If the list is you plus nobody, you are the sitter. Do not start a long board.

What Crew is not

  • Not Meet Frank. That badge is a separate hunt on Meet Frank.
  • Not a script party finder. Executor “auto crew” pastes are malware magnets; see script safety.
  • Not the Community Server. Codes, when they exist, still redeem in Shop.
  • Not a reason to trust the first 17 strangers on the server.

After a patch

Saturday is the advertised cadence. A client bump also landed 2 September 2026. If Crew copy or the button color changes, reread this page against the live HUD and skim latest client update. The jobs do not change because a version number moved: someone harvests, someone sits, someone may raid.

Open Crew. Name harpoon, sitter, raider. Leave only if the sitter is real. That is the whole social layer Raft Pirates actually shipped until they publish a class system — which they have not.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common raft, raid, and code questions.

Where is the Crew button?

Purple control near the top of the HUD, beside the timer. Open it to see who is actually with you on the raft.

Can I play Build and Defend Your Raft solo?

Yes, on an 18-player PvP server. Solo means you raid less and keep loot covered. The map is still multiplayer.

What jobs should a crew name?

Harpoon, sitter, and optional raider. Details are on raid roles. Do not all leave at once.

Does Crew replace defenses?

No. Walls and cannons still matter. Crew is how you confirm a human is holding them. See how to defend.
